Project O now known as King Story - first screens
A few months ago there was talk of a Japanese ‘dream team’ of developers coming together to work on a game. It was mysteriously given the code name of Project O, but we now learn that the game’s official title is King Story. First screens and details below.
In a previous interview translated by IGN, the game’s designer, Norikazu Yasunaga and programming director, Yoichi Kawaguchi explained that the title shares elements in common with the Sony PlayStation’s1997 effort, World Neverland.
The life simulation has three parts. Non-playable characters will live their own lives and offer individual reactions to other inhabitants, (that’s two) and the third is that they’ll be able to remember past events and react according to them in the future.
Yasunaga cited example such as a reaction from a NPC after walking down a street than he and a deceased ex-girlfriend used to wander down, as well as someone boasting to his buddies in town after slaying a monster.
In addition, there are a number of AI types meaning that the variety of characters will act depending on their professions and the environment they live in.
The whole life simulation genre described as something that started as a mix between Sim People and Sim Earth is said to push the Nintendo Wii to the limit, with a promise that Project O will leave the player feeling a real involvement in the storyline.
Marvelous Interactive, CING and Townfactory’s creation is penned for a 2008 release.
