[TGS07] Bomberman Land blasts onto Nintendo Wii

After proving a profitable venture on the Nintendo DS, Hudson Entertainment has taken the decision to bring the Bomberman Land franchise to the Nintendo Wii, reports IGN. The home console version is currently penned for a release in January 2008.

The game’s premise focuses on mini-games, although the traditional Bomberman battles will also be included. The Wii version is said to include 50 mini-games, spread out around a single-player overworld just begging to be explored on an adventure interspersed with story elements. Once games are unlocked in the 1 player mode, up to three others can join in during multiplayer bouts.

The Battle Mode (also 4 player) is said to include full character customisation; let’s just hope it’s as extensive as the brilliant Xbox Live Arcade options. One last nugget of information (or not, as is the case) is that there’s no news yet on any specific Wii Remote motion controls. Of course, you could always take a guess at what they might be from the screenshots above.

Could Bomberman Land become one of the few decent home console games in the long-running series?
