WiiMote has huge range
The guys from Wii-FAN were present at a convention called Electroworld and decided it was time for a range test. While playing a game, one of them thought it was a nice idea to check out how far the reception of the WiiMote goes.
As you can see in this movie, the WiiMote has a rather impressive range, I’d say it’s about 50 Yards (55 Meters). The only problem is that you can’t see what you’re doing at that range unless you have a 500″ screen or binoculars. It’s good to see Nintendo has used quality parts in their products which exceeds the recommended 5 Meters by far.
Not everything is so great about the Wiimote unfortunately. We covered this news recently where the Wiimote was supposedly not working so well in direct sunlight.

Actually Nintendo have since said the sunlight issue is a non-issue.
Unless of course you plan to play in ‘direct sunlight’ in which case it may affect it slightly. But if you can’t see the screen either why bother?
And if Nintendo says something it must be true right?
Well I think that if they would say it, and it wouldn’t be true, it won’t be good for them, look at Sony, they screw up big (very nice and pleasent to see for me though) hope it will effect THEIR sales, but back to nintendo, There was an article published in the Netherlands on Tweakers.net, that tells us that the sunlight indead should NOT have that big of effect on the WII-mote..
I hoop that it doesn’t becouse I will be getting a Wii at launch lol
(not that im playing in direct sunlight or anything… :P)
