Fatal Frame/Project Zero in development for Wii

Temco hasn’t piped up about the Fatal Frame (Project Zero in Europe) series for a while now, but that doesn’t mean that the developer has forgotten about the well-received survival horror series. Not at all, in fact, since the firm is teaming up with Grasshopper Manufacturer to produce the next title in the series - for the Nintendo Wii instead of its rivals.

1UP reports that Grasshopper Manufacturer will start work on the latest instalment of Fatal Frame after it has finished up on No More Heroes, recently announced for a US release via Ubisoft.

The fact that the developer has plumped to continue working with the Nintendo Wii is promising, particularly if it means the console to rely on the software house’s continued support. Even more so since Fatal Frame 3’s producer Keisuke Kikuchi said, “I already have some ideas that I’d like to do if I had more development time and a more powerful system,” back in 2005.

Fatal Frame is has been hugely popular, largely due to the atmospheric music, dark and claustrophobic environments, emphasis on aesthetics and art design and the variety of spirits encountered during the course of the game.[citation needed] The main object of the game is to solve a mystery which is linked to old Japanese superstitions. The player’s main enemies are ghosts; a few are friendly, but most are not. The only form of defence is a camera obscura, which allows the player to exorcise ghosts by taking a picture of them and thus, sealing their spirit in the film.

We’ll bring you more news on Fatal Frame Wii’s development when we get it.
