Seemingly not satisfied with offering us solid videogame content (that has a tendency to repeat on a yearly basis) the diligent boffins over at Electronic Arts are also rather keen on ramping up the marketing potential of their releases by ‘jamming’ wide-ranging musical accompaniment in alongside the gameplay. So, it should come as no surprise whatsoever to hear that EA has this week revealed the complete soundtrack listing for Need for Speed ProStreet. Joy.

Featuring a massive 35 tracks from various artists spread across, what EA refers to as “a volatile range of styles,” the Need for Speed ProStreet soundtrack should have a little something for all tastes – especially those who like nothing more than thumping the (peripheral) steering wheel while shredding (virtual) rubber left, right, and centre.

Furthermore, ProStreet also offers up an original score by internationally renowned DJ, producer, and musician ‘Junkie XL’ that will flow with the gameplay in order to better capture the skilful driving, risky manoeuvres, and pure heart-stopping velocity inherent in pro street racing culture.

“The Need for Speed franchise has set the worldwide standard for not only racing games, but their soundtracks as well,” trumpeted Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive of Music and Music Marketing at Electronic Arts. “Now, for the first time, Need for Speed ProStreet takes street racing from the underground to pro level with a music mix to match… In a still-outlaw culture that demands complete authenticity, we have blended the ultimate audio racing fuel.”

Schnur goes on to say that the ProStreet soundtrack is an international convergence of emerging rock, aggressive electro, UK grime, and much more. Specifically, the likes of Artwerk artists Datarock and Airbourne are included, alongside tracks by Avenged Sevenfold, TV on the Radio, UNKLE, Klaxons, Peaches, Bloc Party and Wiley. Eclectic? Need for Speed ProStreet is scheduled to screech onto North America and European retail shelves on November 14 and 16 respectively for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii home consoles. It will also appear on the PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, PC, and mobile platforms.
