Nintendo has announced at its autumn press conference that a new Fire entry into the Fire Emblem series of games will be heading to the Nintendo DS some time during 2008 for Japan. There’s next to no details on the title, but we’ve managed to track down the very first screenshots.

It’s all looking a little basic at the moment. Whether this style will remain to keep the series’ tactical battle elements simple to control via the touch screen or be changed later in development, we can only guess at. Still, it’s announcement is fantastic news for fans of the series.
