Capcom confirms Okami for the Nintendo Wii (updated!)
Wow, wow, wow. According to a tip off at Wiiz, Capcom (at an event in London, apparently) has reportedly announced that the fantastic Okami has been announced for the Nintendo Wii.

In Okami, players assume the role of the wolf-embodied sun god Amaterasu to set the world straight after the legendary monster Orochi has come back to life and turned it into a wasteland. The action-adventure title was originally released for the Sony PlayStation 2 last year to great a great critical reception, so perhaps the firm’s decision to bring it to Wii will be more fruitful.
One thing we do know is that the “Celestial Brush,” essential to ‘drawing’ strokes to complete puzzles and progress, would suit the Wii’s motion sensitive controls down to the ground.
There’s no official word yet, so we’ll bring you more information when we get it.
UPDATE: Capcom has officially confirmed Okami for early 2008.

I got to say, many of us hoped that it would come to the Wii for the very reason of control scheme but as it was also a great game. I am glad Capcom is releasing it on the Wii it just might show companies that the Wii can be a serious gaming machine.
I own every single current gen console aswell as every last gen console.I have Okami for the ps2.Im not going to buy it for the Wii because I have played it,finished it and loved it already. I dont agree with you LAgamer that porting a last gen game to a current gen console with new control implementations will show anyone that the wii is a serious gaming machine. Why a port? Why not a whole new original game for the Wii? I really want to enjioy my Wii but its only Nintendo releasing anything worth playing. IM A GAMER! I dont want to buy a game that ive already completed on my seven year old ps2 on my Wii.I want to play my 360 with all of its good Bioshocks, Halo’s and Gears etc. I wana play heavenly Sword on my PS3.There’s nothin on my Wii that I wana play.Until Mario galaxy of course. Come on Nintendo, demand more from 3rd parties.Otherwise everybody that isn’t a pensioner or fanboy might just stop playing the Wii
Capcom shut down Clover and some of the key people who worked on Okami have departed. A new game rather than a port of the original would be a mistake. The only think needed to improve Okami for the Wii is a harder difficulty setting. Other than the difficulty being too easy, this was pretty close to a perfect game. I didn’t think anyone could match Nintendo’s Zelda series in quality, but this one did, and I can’t give any game any higher praise than that.
FUUCK YOU CAPCOM!!!!
DEATH TO MICROSOFT!!!
EAT SHEAT BIATCHESSS!!!!
Don’t hold back, MOFOZ. Feel free to say what you really think.
I know this is an old post, but my only concern with Okami on the Wii will be how they handle camera control. I’d bet that Nintendo spent most of the extra time on Zelda: Twilight Princess, just making sure the camera behaved well in every area of the game, since there are no controls for it (other than Z, and they missed a few spots). Okami has some very sticky places where it really took some pretty tight camera control to get through. If they can deal with that one issue on the Wii, this game will be welcome (not as welcome as a true sequel though).
