Ubisoft: We’ll make games of Nintendo quality in 2008
Yves Guillemot, CEO of Paris-based developer Ubisoft has been chatting to Next-Gen about the plans for his firm in the near future, and has claimed that during 2008 Ubisoft will be capable of producing Wii titles of “Nintendo-like quality.”
Yes, indeed. And he also pledged even greater support to both the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS, such is their confidence in the strategies that both consoles are paving:
“[Nintendo’s mass market strategy] is very profitable for Nintendo, and very profitable for all third-party publishers,” he said. “…Because [the strategy] is working, we create more product [for Nintendo platforms] and this will actually bring more people into the industry. The Wii is going to continue to do extremely well with no limit to growth.”
Guillemot boasted that Ubisoft currently has between 400 and 500 staff who are dedicated to developing for the Wii at present, a dedication that it hopes will see them creating games of a quality to rival Nintendo themselves, reports Next-Gen.
A Super Mario Galaxy beater featuring Rayman, anyone?

So presumably Ubisoft are confessing that so far they have just provided a really cack port at release and have brought nothing else to the table.
I swear soft houses are being really slow on the up take that Wii is going to be around for a while and has an ability to work for a completely different demographic.
