Sierra Games has today confirmed that, unlike North America, European gamers will have to wait until 2008 for the release of Geometry Wars: Galaxies, a brand new entry of the once-Xbox Live title for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. Both versions will hit European shores on January 18 next year.

An exclusive to Nintendo consoles, Geometry Wars: Galaxies boasts the franchise’s first full single-player campaign, complete with all new battle grids and a new Battle Drone to upgrade.

• All New Controls - Pull off hotshot moves with controls optimized for the Wii and DS.
• All New Single-Player Campaign - Choose which solar system you’ll save first. Then pick back up where you left off, if you can ever put it down!
• All New Multiplayer – Join together for co-op play or settle rivalries on the Nintendo Wii online leader boards.
• Wii and DS Linked Content – Link the DS and Wii versions to unlock bonus content and be on exclusive leaderboard rankings.

Those that own both the Nintendo Wii and DS titles can link the games together using Wi-Fi to unlock bonus levels to both. Additionally, Geometry Wars: Galaxies is one of the first Nintendo Wii videogames to offer the ability to link the Nintendo Wii system via GameShare with the DS system to download a full, free version of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved.

“We are excited to provide in Geometry Wars: Galaxies more than 60 times the amount of content than Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved, with new levels, controls, weapons and enemies,” said Al Simone, senior vice president, global marketing for Sierra Entertainment.

Previous reports suggested that Geometry Wars: Galaxies would be released in North America on November 09 for both the Nintendo Wii and DS. However, it appears that this has altered to November 20 and November 27 for the home and portable versions respectively.
