House of the Dead Wii - first gruesome screenshots

After the official announcement late last week that SEGA was to add to its Wii Zapper-compatible game support for Nintendo’s latest home console with The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, the developer has released the first set of screenshots for the gun-toting, zombie-filled arcade shooter.

To be honest, we’re not exactly blow away by the first batch of stills. Closer inspection reveals jagged polygons and a myriad of blurry textures. Still, with the title not hitting stores until Spring 2008, there’s plenty of time for SEGA to do some much-needed touching up.

As well as motion-sensitive control, The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return will feature six game modes including Arcade, Time Attack and a multi-player co-operative option.

House of the Dead 2 was one of my favorites on Dreamcast. These screens were probably just taken from the Dreamcast version. Unless it gets a huge makeover, I don’t see any point in buying it for the Wii.

Heh. The screen shots look pretty sad (makes me think of Might & Magic VII), but hey on the bright side Spring is like 6 months away. The final product looks like it might actually be very interesting– the backgrounds look rather promising! Ultimately though, I don’t care– I’m really glad they’re coming out with this on the Wii!
