EU/AU VC Friday: Nintendo issues King of the Fighters on Wii in Europe
Nintendo Europe has this morning issued the latest round of Virtual Console retro updates for Wii owners across the continent and now you can spend your Wii points on a couple more classics that span both the Nintendo Entertainment System, as well as the Neo Geo.
As it does every week, Nintendo has now unleashed two more ‘classic’ titles on the European Virtual Console retro download service, this time bringing the much vaunted King of the Fighters from the Neo Geo, as well as that puzzle game that never grows old - Bubble Bobble for the NES.
“Get ready to fight for your life as one of the greatest combat games ever, THE KING OF FIGHTERS’94, comes to Virtual Console. This classic NEOGEO title, originally released in 1994 is available to download now for 900 Wii Points! Featuring the best fighters from around the world and fan-favourites from games including Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury and Ikari Warriors, players will enter into the King of Fighters ultimate fighting tournament. Selecting from internationally themed trios, players must pit their chosen team against another to become the ultimate fighting champions! Each fight can last up to five rounds, and players can employ deadly ‘desperation moves’, as they take on the cream of the SNK Universe’s fighting talent!”
And, as if that was not enough, Taito’s old favourite is making a return, which certainly bodes well for future additions of Rainbow Island and the like:
“Also up for grabs is cult arcade game Bubble Bobble. Originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, this game features Bub and Bob, two dynamic dinosaurs who must set out to rescue their girlfriends from the Cave of Monsters! Moving over a system of platforms, popping and pushing bubbles and avoiding enemies, they’re in for an adventure and a half! Bringing players all the bubble blowing and power-up action of the arcade original, as well as the famous two-player mode and a password system so you can save your progress, make sure you get your hands on Bubble Bobble this week as it comes to Virtual Console for 500 Wii Points!“
The addition of these two games brings the Virtual Console line-up to a massive 165 titles, with many more on the horizon. Stick with Nintendic for further updates throughout the day…

when are we going to get rad gravity on the virtual console or duck hunt or punch out!!!!
and jet force jemini, blastcops and body harvest for the n64 (i know i have all these games but i want to play them on my virtual console too they are all forgotten classics!
Body Harvest on the virtual console would be great. I would prefer Majoras Mask though (never had a chance to play that but it sounds amazing!) but what I would really like to see is the Fire Emblem games.
Nintendo should make a poll on their site so that people could suggest what games they put up next.
