Last week Marvelous Entertainment and Grasshopper Manufacturer revealed that they were working on bringing Flower, Sun and Rain to the Nintendo DS - a port of an adventure title originally released for the Sony PlayStation 2 in 2001. Today we learn that the re-make will not just include the original game, but also additional extras to tempt those pennies from your pocket.

The story follows Sumio Mondo, a man making a living as an assassin. He has been sent there to carry out a mission to defuse a bomb that is on a plane set to fly from the island’s only airport. After waking up in his hotel room he sets off, but distractions from numerous people on the way mean that he is too late - the aircraft takes off and explodes. However, after a night’s sleep, Mondo finds that - Groundhog Day style-e - the previous day has begun again. This happens over and over, giving him the chance to solve everyone else’s problems as well as his own. With an ever-warping grip on reality, though, can Mondo deal with every challenge he faces without losing his mind?

Flower, Sun and Rain will feature over 50 missions in 18 scenarios, while the Nintendo DS’ touch screen will feature in solving many of the puzzles at hand, reports Inside-Games.

We’re always intrigued by Grasshopper Manufacturer’s work, and with No More Heroes on the Nintendo Wii and Flower, Sun and Rain on the Nintendo DS (assuming it turns out okay, that is), 2008 could be a very good year for the firm.
