With Nintendo’s Wii taking the world by storm, apparently selling out across many countries for the second year in a row, British tabloid newspaper, The People, has reported on a newstip it received from one of its sources inside Buckingham Palace that states the Queen of England has somewhat of a love for playing Wii!

According to the story, the Queen, who is rather a lover of new gadgetry in general, has become ‘hooked’ on Prince William’s new Wii console from Nintendo, which was bought for him by his current girlfriend, Kate Middleton. The inside source stated,

“When she saw William playing a game after lunch at Sandringham she thought the Nintendo [ system ] looked tremendous fun and begged to join in. She played a simple ten-pin bowling game and by all accounts was a natural. It was hilarious. William was in fits of laughter. He was enormously impressed at having such a cool gran. And although she is 81 the Queen’s hand-eye co-ordination was as good as somebody half her age.

“He [ William ] loves his gadgets and boys’ toys. So it was the perfect present for him. His only difficulty nowis prising it away from the Queen’s clutches. She showed all the signs of becoming a Nintendo addict.”

And this is not the first time the Queen has been discussed as having cravings for the latest technology to hit the streets, since back in 2001 she obtained her first mobile phone and now regularly upgrades to ensure she keeps ahead of the game when it comes to the latest features. In addition to this, Her Majesty set up her own email account years ago and in 2005, The People reports, she purchased one of the iPod models so she could store her favourite tunes on it. More recently, in June of last year, she even went as far as buying a BlackBerry device, making sure her senior staff had them as well so communication of all varieties was in their pockets.
