New details on Nintendo’s Wii music spied
New details of Nintendo’s Wii Music, one of the console’s most intriguing titles to date, have emerged today, revealing that the tuneful game might have quite a bit of depth behind its simplistic looks.
We learn that Wii Music’s gameplay will be based around Play Sessions and that the title will be filled with familiar videogame themes from Nintendo back catalogue. We’re told to expect a mixture of both old classics and brand new melodies.
RuliWeb reports that, impressively, players will be able to control over 40 musical instruments including folk and bass guitars, trumpets, maracas, and marimbas - while each instrument has its own set of controls (trumpets, for example, will make strong sounds if the Wii Remote is tilted at an acute angle and weak if held low down; drums utilise two controllers, and the C button is used as a plectrum for your guitar).
In addition, you will also be able to take on the role of the conductor in order to, um, conduct a gaggle of merry men and women through their performance. Bands of up to six members are possible, four places of which can be filled by human players. Liked your performance? It can be replayed and shown off to all, we also learn.
Wii Music is still without a confirmed release date, so it’s still ‘TBA 2008′ for now.
