Have you ever wondered what it would be like to use your Nintendo DS for something other than just gaming? What if your portable platform became the gateway to all sorts of other exciting elements? Well, Nintendo has teamed up with Disney to try and maximise the potential of the system’s success to cater for all ages and provide new uses for the handheld device.

Well, the dream is about to come true as the Disney Magic Connection is currently being trialled over in America right now, with the aim of bringing the general public great news and information as they walk through a Disney theme park carryting the wireless contraption that is compatible with the Nintendo DS. Therefore, as a result, people will be able to find out what the current wait time is for the various different attractions on offer, see if there are any FastPasses still available for a specific ride and when they are available for. In fact, using the Disney Magic Connection, now it is actually possible to create a ‘wish-list’ of favourite rides, shows and attractions and it will then tell you the most time-efficient way to experience everything! It is hoped that this Nintendo DS-compatible device will become the next major technological breakthrough at Disney theme parks all over.

The trial device currently includes:

• Show schedules;
• Parade routes;
• Interactive maps which reveal the location of rides, shows and attractions, restaurants, restrooms, and so on.

It will also have a feature that tells guests where they can locate their favorite characters around the park, all in real-time, as well as use its wireless nature to inform punters what queue they are currently standing in in order to let them play games related to the theme of that particular ride, show or attraction, as well as provide tips and information about what to expect when you reach the end of the line.

If all goes to plan and the trial period proves to be a massive success, it is believed that the fully-loaded version of the Disney Magic Connection could very well be hitting resorts in general around Spring 2009, by which point the DS will have zoomed its way into many more hands!
