Okami Wii delayed in Europe?
Back in October last year we learnt that Capcom’s wondrous Sony PlayStation 2 adventure, Okami, had been confirmed for the Nintendo Wii. Shortly afterwards it was dated for a release in March 25 in North America. We hoped it would cross over the pond into Europe soon after. However, an unnerving whisper has it that European gamers might not see Clover Studios’ final game until the summer.
British website Eurogamer reports today that a “man on the inside” has told them that Okami will not reach Europe until the summer months, while Capcom has yet to comment.
In Okami, players assume the role of the wolf-embodied sun god Amaterasu to set the world straight after the legendary monster Orochi has come back to life and turned it into a wasteland. The action-adventure title was originally released for the Sony PlayStation 2 in 2006, but despite great critical reception it hardly sold by the bucket load, so perhaps Capcom’s decision to bring it to Wii will be more fruitful.
One thing we do know is that the “Celestial Brush,” essential to ‘drawing’ strokes to complete puzzles and progress, would suit the Wii’s motion sensitive controls down to the ground.
The Nintendo Wii port of Okami is being developed by Ready at Dawn (developers of Dawn of Daxter and God of War for the Sony PlayStation portable).
