For all the talk of low shipments of Super Smash Bros. Brawl in Japan and five-week delays for North America, spare a thought for those gamers in Europe and Australia who still don’t have anything other than a vague ‘2008′ confirmation for the release of Nintendo’s latest eclectic beat-em-up. That could be about to change, however - for Europe at least - as the Nintendo UK website has updated to show a launch date for the title of June 01.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl’s main game page of the official Nintendo UK website still displays the ‘2008′ release estimate, but an article posted last week displays otherwise. Adjacent to “Iwata Asks: Super Smash Bros. Brawl (published on January 22) and in which Iwata speaks about the vision and the development process behind the creation of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, June 01 is the date of release penned in by one of Nintendo’s web monkeys.
We’ve saved a screen grab (right) to display the evidence, in the likely case that Nintendo hears ours and other Interweb whispering and amends the page to show otherwise. It’s by no means concrete evidence, but a June release for Europe seems viable.
Nintendo work quickly. As we suspected, Nintendo has already changed the news article so that the release date for Super Smash Bros. Brawl in Europe reads simply ‘2008′ again.
