Fatal Frame: The Mask of the Lunar Eclipse officially unveiled

Temco and Grasshopper Manufacturer first confirmed that it was developing the newest iteration of the Fatal Frame (Project Zero in Europe) back in September last year. Now, however, the game has been officially unveiled. We’ve got a few details and screen captures from the event.

The title of the new Wii title is Fatal Frame; The Mask of the Lunar Eclipse and the theme of the title is memories. A two minute trailer for the game was shown, including the above screen grabs.

Fatal Frame is has been hugely popular, largely due to the atmospheric music, dark and claustrophobic environments, emphasis on aesthetics and art design and the variety of spirits encountered during the course of the game.[citation needed] The main object of the game is to solve a mystery which is linked to old Japanese superstitions. The player’s main enemies are ghosts; a few are friendly, but most are not. The only form of defence is a camera obscura, which allows the player to exorcise ghosts by taking a picture of them and thus, sealing their spirit in the film.

Fatal Frame: The Mask of the Lunar Eclipse will be produced and published by Nintendo and is currently penned down for a Summer 2008 release.
