A real page turner? DS Novel heads to Europe
As far as we’re aware, reading stories on electronic devices really hasn’t taken off here in the West, whereas the Japanese seemed to have embraced the concept wholeheartedly. However, if there’s any product other than the mobile phone that can change that, it’s the Nintendo DS. Today we learn that the imaginatively titled DS Novel will be heading to Europe in 2008.
CVG writes that Nintendo’s latest financial report reveals that Novel DS will be heading to Europe some time this year. There aren’t any firm details as yet, but some predict that the title could be a localised version of DS Bungaku Zenshuu, a cart released in Japan last year that contains a hundred of the country’s classic literary tales.
DS Bungaku Zenshuu shifted some 33,000 copies during its first week on sale in the land of the rising sun, but we question whether a similar number of consumers in Europe would be quite so willing to ditch their paperbacks for reading on the Nintendo DS.
With that in mind, stranger things have happened where Nintendo’s dual screened portable is concerned, so we’ll have to wait and see.

The game’s actually crept its way to over 200,000 sales in total in Japan now and has been listed on Nintendo Europe’s Press site for quite some time…good news indeed!
