Suda 51: No More Heroes began life on Xbox 360
Grasshopper’s Nintendo Wii adventure No More Heroes has been wowing the critics of late, but had the firm’s founder Goichi ‘Suda 51′ not seen the potential of the Wii Remote, the title, which started as an Xbox 360 project, could now instead by gracing Microsoft’s latest machine.
Speaking to trade magazine MCV last Friday, Suda said:
“Originally, I’d wanted to make this game for Xbox 360, actually. [Marvelous Interactive boss] Wada-san had information about the new Wii and how the new controller would work before it came out, so that’s why he thought I should produce the game on that format.“At the time, I didn’t really understand why, but after seeing and understanding how it works, I think it was a good choice and the controller works really well with the game.”
Already available in North America and released in Australia and Europe on February 28 and February 29 respectively, No More Heroes follows the exploits of one Travis Touchdown in the fictional town of Santa Destroy, with katana (Wii Remote) swinging central to the action.
