Vivarium’s The Tower sets foundations on Nintendo DS
Developed by Vivarium and published by SEGA, The Tower SP (released in 2005 for the Game Boy Advance) was a real-time strategy/simulation title that challenged players to construct an ever-growing skyscraper for their boss – one whose massive eyebrows shared more in common with the hairy coating of certain caterpillars more than anything else. Today we learn that a version of the game is currently in development for the Nintendo DS.
In the same vein as many other simulation games, The Tower asks gamers to construct a building, attract people and businesses to move in and, most critically, keep them happy the whole time whilst also keeping an eye on expansion. Factors to keep in mind include rent prices, essential and leisure activities, as well as the odd rat infestation and other unexpected dramas.
There aren’t any firm details on the Nintendo DS build of The Tower just yet, but given the console’s dual screens, touch controls and superior technical capabilities over its predecessor, we’re hoping for an even more satisfying experience. Critics swarmed over the title’s pedestrian pace more than anything else, so with any luck Vivarium will have done its best to speed things up a little.
German website GameFront reports that The Tower DS is currently chalked in for a summertime release in Japan. As for a western release, we’ll bring you word just as soon as we get it.
