City Life DS - first details and screenshots

Now this is a title we haven’t heard very much about so far, despite it (if the current release schedule is still accurate) being planned for release next month. City Life for the Nintendo DS is a port of the 2006 real-time strategy game that allowed players to build a sprawling metropolis in full 3D for the very first time. That won’t be possible on the DS, of course, but with the console’s dual screens and touch sensitive controls, City Life DS could be just as interesting.

Like its PC counterpart, City Life on the Nintendo DS will feature six different socio-economic groups (Elites, Suits, Blue Collars, Have-Nots, Fringes, and Radical Chics) that players must manage. Not all groups will dwell in your city immediately, biding their time until a few projects in a dusty plain transform into block after block of high rises and luxurious penthouse suites.

Of course, the Nintendo DS’ touch controls will come into play when building roads and placing objects on the lower screen, while the upper display features all of the various menus used to organise proceedings. Three modes have been announced so far reports Wiiz: Campaign, Challenge and Construction.

We’ll bring you more information on City Life as we get it.
