Line Rider spring release erased, moved to summer
Since being announced for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS way back in December 2006, very little (if anything at all) as been heard of InXile Entertainment’s port of the Flash game sensation, Line Rider. However, today we learn that development for the title is still very much ongoing, although its release date has been shifted back.
MTV Multiplayer reports that Line Rider for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS is still being worked on avidly, with testers having been ironing out bugs for months now. The release date, meanwhile, has been moved from “Spring 2008″ to a summertime launch.
Line Rider creator Bostjan Cadez told said “It’s [Line Rider] is gonna happen this year,”. InXile’s Chris Keenan reiterated the point, adding:
âI can assure you that âLine Riderâ [for DS and Wii] is alive and kicking. We have been working on it for quite a while and are continuing to polish up the features of the game,â said âLine Rider.â
The Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS builds of Line Rider will be far and away more detailed in terms of options over its free Internet counterpart. It is said to include a much larger tool base for creating scenery, the ability to include some colours, stunts and possibly sound, music, and voices. The new version will also allow for situations in which Bosh (the game’s character) may be able to reacquire his sled if he falls off, and features a “finish line” which will prevent the track from going on forever. There will also be a number of new “Line-Types”, most of which have not yet been released to the public.
âThe PC and Wii versions will have similar features,â said InXile Producer Andrei Passioukov. âOverall the game will be the next generation âLine Rider,â it will have a lot more features and options than the original Flash version, and will appeal to both newcomers and hardcore âLine Riderâ players.
