Following two Nintendo DS versions of Office Create’s cooking-themed mini-game fest, Cooking Mama, plus a successful Wii iteration, US publisher Majesco Entertainment has celebrated the news of a Wii sequel by revealing some sales figures for the series so far.

According to an official statement, the whole Cooking Mama franchise has now sold in excess of 1.6 million units in the US alone and tied in with 505 Games’s announcement of the first DS game selling over 500,000 units alone across the PAL territory of Europe, it is quite obvious we willo be seeing much more of Mama in the future. On top of this, Majesco stated that since the first DS game was launched across North America, it has managed to sell well over a million copies, which spurred on the release of Cooking Mama: Cook Off on Wii, as well as the DS sequel in late 2007 (which hits Europe soon). The popularity of the series means that a fourth game is coming in the near future, a follow-up to the Wii’s Cook Off:
