Wii Fit to arrive in Europe this April?
While Japanese exercise fanatics (and many who aren’t) have been enjoying the physical benefits of Wii Fit since the beginning of December 2007, North American and European gamers have had to make do with vague Q2 2008 and Spring 2008 estimated release dates. However, for Europeans at least, this looks to have changed with the title reported to hit the continent at the end of April 2008.
French website Wiiz writes that Nintendo of France confirmed the release of Wii Fit for Europe to be the end of April at the Micromania Games Awards last night. The event is France’s biggest videogame exhibition, held by the company of the same name who are the country’s largest and most popular videogames retailer.
Continuing the Nintendo Wii’s onslaught to attract non-gamers, the Balance Board and Wii Fit includes around 40 mini-games that encourage players to exercise and have a good time all at once. Yes, apparently it is possible. Using clever weight-shifting techniques, gamers can experience the likes of ski jumping, slalom and tightrope walking amongst many others.
Wiiz also reports that we should hear confirmation of its April 2008 claim as early as the beginning of next month. As for a North American launch, there’s still no word, but perhaps this week’s Game Developer’s Conference will throw up the information we’re waiting for.
