UK Virtual Console missing games released in US

With a somewhat lackluster US Virtual Console launch, a stellar lineup for Japan, performance issues for the UK Virtual Console, and missing games from the UK Virtual Console that are available everywhere else, you’ve kind of got to wonder what Nintendo’s thinking with the way they’re handling the Virtual Console.

First, here’s the good news for those in the UK: You get an extra game that the US doesn’t have–the magnificent Donkey Kong Country (SNES). Now here’s the bad news: you’re missing three games the US currently has.

CVG states:

However it’s not all good news for UK Wii owners; the recent US update to the Virtual console which added Donkey Kong Jr., Victory Run and Mega Drive titles Ristar and Columns - with the exception of Victory Run - doesn’t seem to have made its way to our shores.

Looks like Nintendo’s having trouble digitally distributing games to the fine folks across the pond. I personally love the idea of the Virtual Console, but Nintendo really needs to get their act in gear and work out any distribution and or performance kinks if they want this service to be a smash success. They’ve already got the software and the fanbase who’ll eagerly buy Wii Points… Nintendo just needs to get their act together.

Got one of these? Great. Now all you need are some games.

But remember: Nintendo’s new to the online arena… so give ‘em a month or so to figure out what works and doesn’t work… once they get things figured out, the Virtual Console is sure to be a killer app for the Wii.

I still would love to see some more emulated consoles on the Wii Virtual Console..

Neo Geo - And SNK’s amazing software!
Sega Saturn and Dreamcast - Sega got burned on the Dreamcast games due to pir8ting but I bet they could get 300-500 points per game easy now buy repacking all that stuff..

But really Neo Geo would be gold to Nintendo and to SNK.

Back in May at E3, SNK expressed great interest in releasing titles on the VC, and the wikipedia entry sites SNK as saying they will release Samurai Shodown games http://en.wikipedia.org/w...ii%29#Third_party_support. Hopefully this will pave the way for KOF?.

As much as it would rock, I’m pretty skeptical about seeing Dreamcast games on the VC. The onboard memory is only 512 MB. Dreamcast games can between 300 - 700 MB. But if they do make them available, guess who will be running to the store to get a 2GB SD card? :)

Just looked it up, took a while, but I loved Crossed Swords, and Ninja Combat for the Neo Geo, but both weren’t made by SNK, they were mabe by ADK (Alpha), I hope they get on board.. Both games were under 100 megs. SNK made tones of wicked games though.. Even SNK’s Baseball Stars for the NES was the best baseball for the system.

Anyways I hope that alot of companys jump on the VC bandwagon and realize there is money to be made selling games that we couldn’ afford back then, but now with the VC the masses can have access to alot of titles that never reached their true potential back then…

I think Nintendo should have givin there entire first year of NES (black box) games free to download or at the VERY LEAST Mario Brothers, and Super Mario Bros. 1 at least should have been free downloads. A) to please everyone who has bought it like a few times already, and B) to get everyone else who ever played a chance at the oldie. They would then buy 2, and 3 and World and 64, and then Sunshine, and then the new Universe…
To make us pay for pinball, soccer and the like not a consumer friendly thing, the lineup is soooo sooo deep, why nickel and dime us on these titles? Whats the cost to them really?

I’m glad to see the TG-16 the top sellers!

Sega Saturn would be the only thing even near a possibility at this point… And even then one game would take up at least 3/4 of the Wii internal memory.

If you really want Dreamcast on VC that bad… Just buy a Dreamcast at the pawnshop and a stack of CD-Rs from BestBuy. Now you have the entire Dreamcast library at your disposal (including cancelled games like Half-Life:Blue Shift and Propeller Arena)
