Nintendo sued over Wiimote
According to Interlink, a company specialized in human interface design, Nintendo is ripping them off by using patented technology for the Wiimote. Even though the Wii is released in all major parts of the world and the problem can’t be reversed, Interlink is probably preparing a lawsuit against Nintendo to squeeze some cash out of them.
In 2002 something similar happened with Microsoft and Sony who both used the same technology for the rumble feature in the joypads. Immersion filed lawsuits against Sony and Microsoft but the latter settled with the company and payed Immersion $26 million for licensing rights and for a stake in the company. Sony on the other hand prolonged the trial for a while but had to cough up $90 million for using the technology eventually. To this date, Immersion still hasn’t seen a single penny from Sony.
Kotaku thinks, and I agree with them, that Nintendo might have to send Interlink a buck or two to shut them up and continue the sale of the Wii. Money, that’s basically all that Interlink is asking and it’s presumably the fastest way to settle this dispute.
Worst case, I’d expect Nintendo might be tucking away a penny or two from their Wii profits to keep these guys quiet. But I’m no patent lawyer - demanding Nintendo cease selling the Wii and that they get some cash-money for their troubles (which is what Interlink are requesting) might be the fastest way to get a judge to dismiss your case on sight.
You guys enjoy yourself with this stolen technology in the meantime!

Did I miss some big news? Sony selling the Wii?
fuck you
:’)
The technology on the interlink remote is completely different because it doesn’t sense motion was patented for the first time about eight years ago that means it uses old technology. the design and the wireless capabilities are the is the only similar things. Interlink is just doing this because they hope to rip a quick buck off nintendo.:(
Sounds like a scam to me. Interlink are looking for fast cash, let’s hope the Judge has good common sense, if it goes to court..
