Star Wars: The Force Unleashed release delayed
Activision has today let slip that the release date for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS has been shifted back from an estimate of April to August 2008 for North America and September 2008 for Europe.
This is according to videogaming247 and Destructoid, the former who were told that “It actually moved to September a few months back,” by an Activision spokesperson.
Not a whole lot is known about the Nintendo Wii version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, although the Wii Remote will be used to wield a light saber - not in a 1:1 fashion, however. The Nunchuck, meanwhile, will be used to attack foes with Force powers.
Exclusive to the Nintendo Wii version (currently in development by Krome Studios) is the duel mode, in which gamers will be able to battle against their friends, reports CVG.
“Wii is a great platform for The Force Unleashed, because the console’s motion-oriented controllers really bring the game to life,” said Jim Ward, President of LucasArts last September. “We’ve worked hard to make the Wii version of the game unique in order to truly let you unleash the Force.”
Game summary:
“Star Wars: The Force Unleashed casts players as Darth Vader’s “Secret Apprentice” and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.”
Disappointed by the shift? Us too. Probably for the greater good though.

I’m disappointed. There has to be something else that I want to play on the Wii besides sports and Mario.
