Ubisoft has today announced the latest title in its Imagine series of games for the Nintendo DS (you know, the one that has brought us such delights as a babysitting simulator and fashion designing software), will be Imagine Rock Star - allowing players to form a band and climb the charts on a journey to become music legends.

Imagine Rock Star allows players to create a rock band and select who plays the drums, guitar, bass and piano. Each instrument has its own unique control using the Nintendo DS’ stylus. Bandmates are also fully customisable, while up to four players can jam together wirelessly.

“Ubisoft has established itself as the leading publisher for girls and we are extremely pleased with the success of the first series of Imagine games,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of marketing and sales at Ubisoft. “By allowing them to play, create and dream of the possibilities, Imagine Rock Star strengthens Ubisoft’s position in this category and provides more DS options for young girl gamers.”

Hardly the most original concept in the world, but like Babyz, Animal Doctor, Master Chef and the rest, it’s all aimed specifically at young girl gamers, so we’re inclined to forgive it… just.
