Clearly taking inspiration from the Incredible Machine series of games (most popular in the early-to-mid 1990s), Germany’s FAKT software has announced that Crazy Machines will be heading to the Nintendo DS.

Crazy Machines is a physic-based puzzler in which players are given a series of mechanical components with which they must create a complicated device that performs a very simple task (think of that famous Honda advertisement in which a myriad of car components combine perfectly to display the vehicle at the end).

Building on a port of the original PC version of the game, FAKT promises that the Nintendo DS build will include Action Mode, where players will have to build their complex contraption while its motor is running. Sounds tricky…

GameRadio also reports that Crazy Machines will make use of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to allow players to exchange solutions for each mechanical puzzle. Whether this option will be just local or worldwide is unknown just at the moment.

Crazy Machines is currently scheduled for release in Autumn 2008. Take a peek at screenshots from the PC version above for an idea of what handheld owners can expect.
