Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2 - first details dissected
Developer Atlus’ Trauma Center: Under the Knife (released in the summer of 2005) was one of the real first examples of how the Nintendo DS could be used to offer a unique gaming experience. The stylus and touch screen combined magically to provide a brilliantly tactile title, in which players picked apart and patched up patients. After two more successful outings on the Nintendo Wii, the first details of the portable sequel have been uncovered.
North American gaming magazine Nintendo Power gives us the first scoop on Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2, revealing that the original title’s two main characters (surgeon Derek Styles and young nurse Angela “Angie” Thompson”) will both return to theatre. Regarding the game’s plot, this time around it focuses on the aftermath of the GUILT virus that plagued many of Trauma Center’s first lot of patients, and the mystery that surrounds its aftermath.
As for gameplay, the publication reports that it remains very much the same as before, albeit with a selection of new tools and added functionality to those already familiar to veterans of the game. You’ll use all of these in brand new life-saving operations, which will be simplified in an Easy Mode being implemented for greater accessibility.
That’s all there is so far, other than word that Trauma Center 2: Under the Knife will arrive in stores in Summer 2008.
