After previous rumour and speculation about when LEGO Indiana Jones would be whip-crackin’ it’s way into retail stores, today it has been confirmed that the unshaven, treasure hunting adventurer will arrive in North America on June 03, and in Europe a couple of days later on June 06.

LEGO Indiana Jones game (subtitled The Original Adventure) which parodies first three instalments in the film series - iconic moments such as legging it away from a giant, rolling boulder included. The title will be made up of a total of 18 levels, split across three chapters.

As for gameplay, we know that developer Traveller’s Tales is aiming for a much fuller experience than in any other of its previous LEGO efforts. Indy will be able to use his whip to attack foes and swing from ledges, dig for hidden goodies with a spade and require others to take over adventuring duties when he is faced with his phobia of snakes. In fact, LEGO Indiana Jones is said to offer a more “open and explorative” adventure than its blocky counterparts – as well as funnier too.

“LucasArts and TT Games are setting the bar for next-generation family entertainment with the LEGO Star Wars franchise, and our incredible relationship continues with LEGO Indiana Jones,” said Jim Ward, president of LucasArts on the game’s original announcement. “In addition to providing the quality bonding time inspired by any good family game, LEGO Indiana Jones delivers something a little different for everyone. Parents will enjoy the humorous take on some of their favourite movies, and their kids get some rousing action/adventure gameplay that may also introduce them to Indy’s original adventures for the first time.”

Indiana Jones is the perfect character for the next LEGO-based videogame adventure,” added Tom Stone, director at TT Games. “Indy also presents us with wonderful and memorable cinematic moments. The boulder scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark in LEGO is hilarious!”

Traveller’s Tales’ previous ‘LEGO’ videogame efforts have been surprisingly fresh and enjoyable experiences, so we’re hoping that Indy’s latest exploits will continue the trend.
