Final Fantasy IV US date spied?
The front cover of Nintendo Power magazine was plastered with references to Square Enix’s Final Fantasy IV last week, and in an interview with director Takashi Tokita (along with quite a few English screenshots), all signs point to the Nintendo DS remake landing itself a Western localisation sooner rather than later. One report emerging today suggests that the retro title will arrive in North America this July.
RPGFan reports that (along with news that we already know) that Final Fantasy Fables Chocobo Dungeon will launch in the US on July 08, that Final Fantasy IV for the Nintendo DS will also ship “sometime” in July.
Originally released for the Super Nintendo in 1991, the game introduced many innovations that became staples of the Final Fantasy series and RPGs across the board (its Active Time Battle system for one). This, along with a fantastic musical score and character-driven plot has meant that many critics consider it to be one of the best games of all time.
With Final Fantasy IV being given so much press of late, we’d expect Square Enix to follow up with official confirmation of sorts in the near future.
