Nintendo DS Band Bros. sequel, Phoenix Wright spin-off

Having sold in excess of 200,000 copies over in Japan, Nintendo DS launch title ‘Daigasso! Band Brothers’ (known as Jam with the Band in the West) never actually made it over to the Western world, despite numerous promises from the Kyoto Company. Now, though, hope may well have been renewed as Nintendo has revealed a sequel is in the works. In other news, it seems Capcom is ready to expand the Ace Attorney franchise.

First up is Band Brothers DX, which has just popped up on the radar thanks to this week’s Famitsu magazine. The rhythm-related title is being readied for a 26th June release over in Japan and will come with more than thirty new tracks, ranging from classical tunes to those of a J-Pop orientation. There will be more than fifty different instruments available to use, including that of a Nintendo Entertainment System’s sound chip! The guitar can be played by strumming on the touch-screen with the stylus, and up to six players can get involved in local wireless jam sessions. There will also be a singing mode with karaoke available for both the initial game, as well as the plan download content. Finally, on the Nintendo Wi-Fi download front, the developer plans to release more than one hundred new tracks over the connection in due course to ensure sufficient longevity of the product. Next in line is Miles Edgeworth: Perfect Prosecutor, which is coming from Capcom sometime this year and is a spin-off of the immensely popular Gyakuten Saiban / Ace Attorney series. This time the law adventure sees players taking on the role of a grand prosecutor, rather than defender of justice. The game’s protagonist is none other than fan favourite Miles Edgeworth, with bumbling detective Dick Gumshoe also playing a major role. Players control Edgeworth as he searches for overlooked evidence and inconsistencies at various crime scenes. Other than the new scenario, there will also be the inclusion of a new search function, as well as a deduction system being introduced. Below are two scans of the game from Famitsu:

Last, but by no means least, Spike, the developer behind the Touch Detective games, has unveiled Twilight Syndrome: Legend of the Forbidden City, which is coming to Japan on 24th July, 2008. The game is actually a new entry into a long-running series, with a school girl as the main character. The girl, Mizuki, is led on a chain of horror after receiving a strange piece of chain mail. Mizuki will be voiced by UENO Mami, and the other supporting characters will be voiced by HORI Yuri (Riko) and SHIHONO Ryo (Reika). The game will allow for scrolling right and left so that players can examine the numerous interesting places, checking them to see if there is any truth to the various rumours floating around.

And to conclude, two other dates were revealed, the first being the Bandai Namco-developed Super Mario Stadium Family Baseball for 19th June and Monolithsoft’s Disaster: Day of Crisis on 3rd July.
