Opoona crash lands into Europe this July
Available in Japan since last November and arriving in North America last month, Koei has today confirmed that its Nintendo Wii “lifestyle RPG” Opoona will arrive in Europe on July 25.
“With its imaginatively unique controls and compelling storyline, coupled with the amazing talents of the development team, Opoona offers gamers something very different to explore and enjoy.” Said Will Curley, Sales Manager KOEI. “It melds everything that we’ve come to love about Japanese RPGs with some masterful innovations and a captivating tale that will delight both veteran gamers and newcomers alike.”
Opoona centres on a young boy of the same name, who is seperated from his family after their spaceship crash lands on a the mysterious Planet Landroll. Forced to live alone, Opoona must find a job, search for his siblings and defend himself from the evil Dark Rogues. The game’s action-oriented battle system lets players use powerful “Energy Bonbons” against their enemies. Using just the Nunchuk, players can manipulate an Energy Bonbon’s trajectory in a number of different ways. All of Opoona’s commands are also controlled by the Nunchuk, to allow a complete “single-hand control” of the game.
Koei is keen to stress that Opoona isn’t just about battling, however, it is also a “lifestyle RPG” in which players must met new people, contribute to society and take care of the world around them. As the game progresses, Opoona will develop relationships and uncover a broader range of activities including new jobs and clues to new adventures.
Despite decent review, Opoona has so far sold worse than The Crankies Greatest Hits. To be honest, we’re not too sure whether matters will change once it reaches Europe.
