Ubisoft declare 4 new Wii games

We are all waiting for something extra special for the Wii in terms of games. Wario Ware may be the first game to offer that, since Zelda is a GameCube game at heart. Ubisoft are now offering a helping hand too, by announcing one brand new game, and three games that are being ported to the Wii, two of which are Driver and Brothers in Arms.

Ubisoft Spain recently revealed the new games. The first game mentioned is Brothers in Arms: D-Day. Previously released on the PSP, which mixes all the best bits from previous BiA games and puts them on the PSP, along with a Co-Op mode, so you and a friend can tackle 12 Skirmish missions. Hopefully the Co-Op will remain for the Wii version, since there are currently no games that utilise online gaming on the Wii (PokĂ©mon is coming soon). It wasn’t very well received though, suffering from several flaws.

Second mentioned is Driver Parrallel Lines. Originally released on the PS2 and Xbox, it was a pretty average game that, like DRIV3R, was not enjoyed by many. Hopefully the new Wii controls and some much needed tweaking will make this a worthy purchase.

Third on the port list is Cosmic Family. Originally released on the PC, this game was geared towards younger children, so this is unlikely to stir many readers here, unless you have children that don’t want to play Wii Sports all day!

The fourth game is entirely new. There isn’t much information at the moment, but the title Spelling Spree gives a hint as to what to expect. Given the success of games such as Big Brain Academy and Brain Training, it’s likely Ubisoft saw the oppurtunity on the Wii and so have gone for it. I’m slightly dissapointed, since I would have like to see something that wasn’t educational, that’s not why I play games.

It’s also dissapointing to see Ubisoft porting old generation games. I had hoped that they were creating a new Driver, specially tailored for the Wii. Sadly this isn’t the case, but BiA might be interesting to try out for the Wii if they can improve over the flaws of the PSP version. I’m hoping for the best!

Who is in charge at Ubisoft? They are making a right mess of their stuff. I own a Wii,xbox360 and a PS2, PSP and a DS just like I would say a lot of people do.
No way am I buying ports of PSP and PS2 games. Very disapointing and a wasted chance on their behalf.
