Order Up! announced for Nintendo Wii

The likes of Cooking Mama and Cake Mania have, in recent times, fuelled a certain section of the gaming world’s (who they are, we’ve no idea) desire for food-preparation games - and now there’s another one on the way, in the form of Order Up! from Zoo Games.

The game’s creative director, Lee Cummings, has previously worked on the likes of Grand Theft Auto and Bully, and found himself working on Order Up!, a new casual title for the Nintendo Wii that sees players experiencing the orderly chaos of a professional kitchen.

The players’ objective it to work their way up from running a fast food joint all the way up to a luxury establishment (bypassing Mexican and Italian cuisine on the way), all set on the tropical island of Port Abello - a place sectioned into three districts (the farmer’s market, Olde Town and Newtown).

After employing the right stuff, it’s time to get cookin’. Once an order has been placed, it’s your job to prepare it (using the Wii Remote’s motion-sensitive jiggery pokery to chop, mix, flip and season food). It won’t be a huge waggle-fest, though, as Zoo Games wanted to minimise the effort needed to prepare meals. Once ready to be served, it’s a race against time to get the food out to the punter before it cools down.

Despite over 4000 lines of dialogue, cartoon-y look and funky reggae soundtrack, Order Up! is, really, all about time management and multi-tasking, reports IGN.

It’ll be served up on July 22.
