Can’t find a DS lite anywhere?
Yahoo! news wrote a small article about where all the Nintendo DS’ have gone since a lot of stores are sold out. A website called iTrackr records the availability of a bunch of high-demand products and apparently the DS has a rating between 4 and 14 percent availability which is quite extraordinary because during the rest of the year you can find a stack of DS’ in almost every games store.
It’s obvious that the DS’ have sold out due to the all the festivities in December, but even when Nintendo increased the production of their handheld a while ago, it wasn’t enough to meet the demand apparently. Even after two years, the DS Lite is still the top selling console and in the week of December 18-24 it sold three times as much as Sony’s PSP. The DS was even more scarce in some areas than Nintendo’s brand new Wii.
Nintendo responded to the shortages by saying that the DS Lite is the best selling video game system in the world right now and due to the holiday shoppers it obivously resulted in shortages in some areas. But the good news is that the system should be more readily available over the next couple of weeks.

For the people that don’t have a DS Lite already (do they still exist?) this is good news, but a lot of people are still waiting for their Wii too Nintendo!
Can’t say there is a problem in England. I could walk in and buy 20 of them if I wanted. I think one is enough though
I am trying to find a place in my budget as I thought I could(as Rossko UK added) walk into a store and buy 20! This news is bad.
Here in the US, there aren’t any around. Even the old ds phat is out in some places.

Well, I already got mine in America a long time ago, but if I wanted one right now in Japan I would have to be pretty badass, because that shit sells out instantly.

Spot outages?! Are they nuts?! I can’t find one anywhere!!! America, or Japan. Two nations completely out of DS’s unless you ninja one from a guy unloading a truck, that’s a bit more than a “Spot Outage”. I’ll wait though, I really want a DS. Late to the game I know, but I wanted to see who would win the portable war, and now that there is a clear victor…
I can’t find any in Kansas, much less Kansas City. Heck, I can’t find one on Walmart.com, Newegg.com, Buy.com, Toysrus.com or Amazon.com (unless you want to buy one for a $50 gouge over the $129 list.
They have them at the Hastings in Lawrence. About 20 of them as of 27Jan07. Their return policy is not very liberal however.
Circuit City has them in some stores, you can use their site to find one near you.

Dont believe the hype about Circuit city having them, I keep getting their Now In Stock emails, but I call the store immediatly and low and behold i get the normal, “Sorry we are out” make you wonder where exactly they lites are ending up. By the way, CC extended plan is riduculous at 39.99 and 59.99. The answer I have heard from many stores in Michigan is that they should have some by the end of the month. the nintendo rep at my work also told the girl working in that department that all of their systems are being shipped Fed-ex, not the normal store drop.
I’ve been looking for an onyx DS Lite since early December since I usually wait for two Castlevanias to come out for a system before buying. But nowhere has it. Strangely enough, everyone has a buttload of PS3s. What is the world coming to?
Same as Jenns. Circuit City is giving the runaround. Mt. Laurel, Nj store listed as in stock 2 times but store says never had it. After being jerked around by the Maryland office, I was told somehow three people reserved the DS Lite in NOVEMBER and by some magical accounting that gives an in stock notice in January. Something’s up and CC should check their employees and inventory practices. Should I have slipped a $20 to the salesguy?

my local circuit city has 5 onyx, 2 white, and 3 pink, or at least it did when I went there 5 hours ago. but dangit, Target doesn’t have them! my DS Phat has a cracked hinge because my brother dropped it, and last week the top screen and WiFi bit the dust. I need a lite, and I have to buy it from target, because my mom works there and gets a discount. She won’t let me buy it anywhere else, even though I’m only saving $11. I’m only 15, so my parents still have control over stuff like that (and it bugs me too, what the hell does $10 difference make when I’m already spending $130?). whenever I call target (like 3x a day) they always give me the same crap (we’re out) and they can’t even tell me when they’ll get any extra (we get stocked every night, check back in a few days). I want one SO BAD!!!! the only thing holding me back from getting one is Target having them in stock!

Hmm I haven’t noticed them being out of stock in my area. I have a white one but I want one of those red/black ones that originally game in the Brain Age 2 pack.

Purchased one the Friday after Christmas, had an r button problem so I ended up taking it back it’s been out of stock in Target since then
I haven’t been seeing any in stores like Wal-Mart and BestBuy, but I just checked the gamestop website and they have some instock nearby. My only real problem is wanting the silver color which seems to be quite popular!
