Guitar Hero to ‘get more physical’ on Nintendo Wii

With the Nintendo Wii’s motion-sensing controls, Activision boss Bobby Kotick has hinted today that the next iteration of Guitar Hero on the machine will “get more physical.”

Speaking to Conde Nast, reports MCV, Kotick explained that Guitar Hero on the Nintendo Wii would be taken in a different direction compared to the builds on other consoles - and that the series is being worked on to best suit the “physical experience” of the machine.

Asked about other Wii games in the pipeline, he added:

There are opportunities to add to the physical experience, whether it’s guitars or the Star Wars game—in which you have a lightsaber—or fishing.

Having that physical connection with what you see on the screen is bringing in audiences that never would have tried games. But we’re in the very, very earliest stage of physical interface.”

Kotick also revealed that future iterations of Guitar Hero would go down the Rock Band route and include extra instruments:

“It’s not just about guitars,” Kotick said. “We’ll include a lot of other instruments, vocals.”

Effects pedal control via the Wii Balance Board, maybe? Heh.

I said when GH3 was released it should have had a smash up period at the end to finnish a bitchin guitar solo by “trashing” the guitar by shaking it.
