Ubi “investigating” bringing Prince of Persia to Wii

The recently announced new Prince of Persia title was announced for the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS… but not the Nintendo Wii. And in a recent interview, while developer Ubisoft concedes that the currently-in-development Prince of Persia adventure will never arrive on the Nintendo Wii, the firm is seriously investigating bringing the franchise back to the little white box of tricks.

Speaking of Prince of Persia for the Nintendo DS and a possible return to the Nintendo Wii in future in the latest issue of Edge magazine, Ubisoft explained:

“It’s connected to the game in a very interesting way, but it’s not a port. A complementary experience, shall we say?” it explained.

“We ported Two Thrones to the Wii. It was a quick and dirty port, i can say. With that we saw a lot of potential. The controls were not fully optimised, did not take full advantage of the Wii, but a lot of people saw the POP universe could certainly have a home on Wii. Since then people have been looking into that, but there’s no formal announcement. We are investigating it very seriously. You would never see a port of the game we’re making however. That’ll never happen.”

So, it’s case of wait and see for that one.

The new Prince of Persia adventure, reports, is set in a corrupted world that needs to be healed. It sees twin gods Orhmaz and Arhiman, the former who locks the other in a box hidden within a oasis deep in the desert. After centuries of being incarcerated, a troublesome prince frees Arhiman. This = a big whoopsie, and causes a whole lot of trouble that must be set right again.

The new Prince of Persia is set for release this summer.  digg:Ubi  newsvine:Ubi  furl:Ubi  reddit:Ubi  fark:Ubi  Y!:Ubi  gamegrep:Ubi
