Pokemon Platinum for DS confirmed - first details
If Japanese publication Coro Coro Comics is to be believed, the last iteration in Nintendo’s critter-hunting Pokemon series is named Pokemon Platinum, and will be heading to the Nintendo DS in Japan this September.
Legendary Pokemon Giratina is seen to feature prominently in Coro Coro Comics’ single-page feature (and on the box of the game), so it could be that the monster who debuted in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl; one that represents death and dwells in the ruined depths of Turnback Cave, be central to the upcoming plot in Platinum?
The first details reveal the following snippets of information:
- Volkner is no longer the gymp leader of Sunyshore City
- The Underground is now compatible with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection
- An island named Battle Island will feature, and functions in a similar manner to that of the Battle Frontier
- Several new Pokemon will make their debuts in Platinum, including Giratina’s Origin Form, Regigigas’ Sky Form, and Shaymin’s Another Form - Giratina and Regigigas’ new forms are said to be able to acquire the Levitate ability and Shaymin’s Another form may be at least part Ice Type.
Everything’s a little bitty as far as details go, but as soon as we hear anything more, we’ll let you know.
