SEGA officially announces Madworld and Infinite Line
After first showing their faces yesterday (in the latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu), SEGA has officially announced its deal with Platinum Games to bring Madworld and Infinite Line to the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS respectively, as well as providing new details and screenshots and artwork for both.
Madworld
Scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2009, Madworld, directed by Atsushi Inaba, depicts a world in black and white, other than the red streaks of blood from injured foes. As players battle opponents, they must master the use of various weapons and items found within their environment, such as chainsaws and street signs, while sports-style commentary adds to the third-person gameplay.
Platinum Games promises that it will fille the hole for a unique, core gaming experience currently ‘missing’ on the Nintendo Wii.
Infinite Line (working title)
Infinite Line, a role playing game exclusively for the Nintendo DS, takes place in outer space and gives players the ability to control, build, outfit and customise more than 150 spaceships. Platinum Games claims that it will stretch the handheld’s hardware to the limit, and that it is one of the most complex RPG titles to be developed for the Nintendo DS to date.
“The creative forces at PlatinumGames bring a new level of imagination into the SEGA family at a pivotal time in the video game industry when the demand for quality, originality and fun has never been greater,” said Tatsuya Minami, President and CEO, PlatinumGames. “These new titles will contribute meaningfully to SEGA’s brand, while adding a new level of depth to the strategic portfolio of games in our library.”
“We are thrilled to have forged this new relationship with such a talented team of individuals and we are understandably excited about the titles that they are producing for us,” commented Mike Hayes President and COO of SEGA Europe Ltd. “SEGA continually strives to release games for all consumers that are of the highest quality, working with Platinum Games further enhances that strategy.”
We’ll bring you more information on both Madworld and Infinite Line as we get it.

And people say the Wii can’t have M rated games. HA! This (along with No More Heroes, Resident Evil 4, Ubrella Chronicles, etc.) proves them wrong.
