Lost in Blue Wii - first N64-alike screenshots [updated!]

After being officially confirmed yesterday, the first proper screenshots of Lost in Blue for the Nintendo Wii have emerged. And if their awful quality is reflective of the gameplay we can expect, we’re not holding out much hope.

Whether these shots are from early development of Lost in Blue Wii or not isn’t clear, but even still, they’re really rather awful. The Nintendo Wii has been around for a year and a half now (and developers will have had kits to create games before then), so why something that looks more like a Nintendo 64 game appears, especially from a firm like Konami, we’re more than a little worried.

Anyway, the screenshots reveal the reason why Lost in Blue’s characters find themselves stranded on a desert island… the ship they were sailing on got into trouble and dumped them there, spreading individuals around the land.

Update: Konami has officially announced the game as Lost in Blue 3: Shipwrecked.

The most hilarious part of the press release is as follows:

Vibrant 3D graphics make the island environment, weather systems, and various items more life-like than ever.

“Taking full advantage of the Wii Remote™ and Nunchuk controls, Lost in Blue: Shipwrecked! allows players to realistically practice survival tasks, with more than 40 mini-games including fishing, carpentry, fire-making and other all-new cooperative games. Dependable pets provide players with an added entertainment feature by playing music or dancing throughout the game.

“Building upon the success of the previous Lost in Blue DS titles, we wanted to give fans an extended experience in the first console version of the series,” said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. “Bringing the series to Wii™ will ensure fans receive the most exciting, immersive survival adventure game to date.”

The Nintendo DS title was also officially announced. Here are the first screenshots:

The title washes ashore this autumn.

This is a truly disgusting looking game. I know the wii aint a graphical power house but cmon developers you can do betr than this. Look at Lost in Blue on the DS I swear that looks betr and pushes the ds in terms of graphics. After hearing about mad house this sorta ruins things abit.

Technically, the DS version looks better by far because it pushes the ds’s 3d hardware, which a lot of developers don’t even try to do. Seeing those kind of graphics on wii however is just unbearable, and yet another half-assed effortless wii game will be released! (Please prove me wrong, PLEASE!)
