EA: Nintendo can bring MMO success to consoles
The massively multiplayer online gaming world is dominated by World of Warcraft in the West, and it’s a challenge that console developers seem reluctant to try to compete against, especially since the genre has never taken off on dedicated games machines. Still, Electronic Arts’ Paul Barnett reckons if anyone can break the mould, it’s Nintendo.
Speaking to CVG, Barnett explained:
“The number-one problem of a developer of an MMO these days is it’s very hard to be creative and keep your eye on the target when almost everyone has only ever played one of these games and it dominates their thinking,”
“You would have to build something very console centric from the get-go. I think probably the best chance of someone doing something like that is Nintendo - doing
something crazy that no one expects.”
Barnett goes on to predict that the Rock Band online structure is the closest he’s seen to an MMO-esque, community-based experience on home consoles, although he doesn’t know what the real answer is.
Could Nintendo’s upcoming Animal Crossing on Wii change things like never before?

Interesting comment could be true though, nintendo are promising a absolutly amazing game for e3, and nintendo as a company arent exactly predictable, who would of thought 5 years ago that nintendo would show us to touching games and pretending to play tennis! So could well happen, the thing is that nintendo are really concerned about online saftey so who knows!
