Datel launches “Games n’ Music” for Nintendo DS
Datel, perhaps best known for its Freeloader region-cancel disc, and its cheat-haven multi-format Action Replay MAX range, has this week released its latest slice peripheral/accessory software goodness. According to Datel, the newly arrived “Games n’ Music” cartridge for the Nintendo DS and DS Lite is destined to turn your sexy little clamshell handheld console into the very hub of your portable digital lifestyle. But will it really?
Through Games n’ Music, willing DS owners can openly play home brew videogames coded specifically for Nintendo’s little machine that can, with games being readily available for direct download via the Internet. To whet gaming appetites, Datel is also bundling a bonus CD with Games n’ Music that contains 25 complementary home brew titles that exist as some of the best the DS home brew scene has produced since the console launched in November of 2004.
As the product’s title describes, it’s not just games that are on offer here, and Nintendo DS fans can utilise Games n’ Music to listen to their favourite MP3 tunes via the product’s integrated MP3 player. Furthermore, the device comes with handy video conversion software that can be used in conjunction with Windows XP (or later) PCs to transfer movies and other video content into a playback format compatible with Games ‘n’ Music.
What’s more, according to Datel, you don’t even need to apply confusing or annoying modifications (usually the norm with these kinds of products) in order to enjoy Games n’ Music; with usage amounting to a 128MB Micro SD card that allows users to store their games and media—which can be expanded to an impressive 2GB by simply slipping in a new card—it’s apparently extremely easy to use. The user merely fits the 128MB Micro SD card into the included USB adapter, plug into an open USB port on your computer, and then simply drag-and-drop wanted files (home brew/music/video) onto the card before transferring it to the waiting Nintendo DS.
Sounds like a fabulous new addition to the Nintendo DS’s peripheral hardware line-up, and we’d never discount Datel’s reputation in the industry, but we’ll hold off on casting final judgement until we’ve witnessed Datel’s Games n’ Music in action first hand.
Games n’ Music is available right now, and is priced $39.99 in North America and £24.99 in the UK.

Agh, my eyes!Use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation please. Anyway, it’s a great product; but where are the home brew sites?
One cannot simply stick commas and semicolons in a sentence and have it be grammatically correct. When using a conjunction in a sentence and the second part of the sentence is a complete one, you must use a comma to separate, not a semicolon. Furthermore, you must correctly put two spaces after each ending punctuation.
I can’t get it to work! All I am getting is a blank white screen instead of the download! WTF is wrong? Any help would be apprecited.
i wanna love u and suck ur dicks lol ha ha gay fags
how are we gay if you want to suck our talliwhackers???? fag ps its a great product
i dont know how to work it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good website, ds.qj.net, best homebrew website in my opinion. by the way i have tried around 200 different games and apps for this and apps dont work. demos work fine, like the mario kart demo, and around 100 homebrew games work too. my favorite game is extreme onslaught, its basically geometry wars on the ds
totaly crap- waste of money
THEN DONT BUY IT… STEAL THAT SHIT, BITCH!!!
i mite get it today i dont really know what it is i dont care if it sucks
This is basically a slot 1 flash card like the R4, M3 Simply, etc. What keeps this one from running commercial games? Considering you can get an R4 for about $30-$40 I’d look at that long before this.
it’s ok it can’t play commecial games for the ds but so far I got dsdoom on it, dsquake, snes, nes, gameboy, genesis, moonshell, dsorganize, and some demos for the ds (mario kart demo) overall i’ll give it 8/10 just b/c it doesn’t play full version of ds games, but it works for everything else ^_^V but what do you except for something thats $19.99 at wal-mart.
I got it 3 days ago, but it wont clip in anymore.
In other words, it broke.
It was good while I had it, but not good hardware.
My suggestion: just buy a good slot-1 card. Its essentially the same thing, but better quality.
waste of money, most games dont even bloddy work.
Quit talking trash if you haven’t bought or owned one it is from Wal-Mart so you cant expect to great of things but is best for someone that just wants to play other games. and p.s. it is illegal to put nes, snes, gba and so on if you dont own the game so actually buy them if you’re going to download them and play them.
HOW DO I GET TO SEE VIDEOS IT DOSENT WORK
David, The thing sticking off the side of the MicroSD card, cut it off. the spring wont push it out anymore. Jose, A Video converter came on that disc. You must use it to convert your videos before you place them on your Games n’ Music cart.
is this game good?
i went to the store n they said they never heard of it ? is it classified as a game ?
wow you guys are dumb, get a life.
It worked great,i played music and TONS of homebrew games like mario 64 and metroid, nothing can beat this! [A MUST-HAVE]
A video I made with things Games N’ Music can do.

YO WAT UP THIS THING ROCKS SO MUCH IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(p.s. that means it’s good)
My little brother bought this 2 days ago he loves it!..where can he download the games?
please please send me one
hi i got this and i can’t get mp3s or owt onto it, it says everything is protected or sumat stupid, i tried it on 3 different comps and it sed the same thing. HELP?!!
It says that it supports up to 2 GB. Did they say that because the biggest Micro SD card avaialble when the details were written was 2GB or is it really not able to use a bigger Micro SD Card? Anyone using something bigger than 2GB? Do I want bigger? What are the thoughts??
can it plays n64 roms?
I highly doubt it will ever be able to have the capability of playing n64 roms. The max limit of a file it can access is 4 megabyte. An average n64 rom is 8-16 megabytes.
This shit has been out for a while. This article was poorly written, and I’ve only found one use for it - NitroTracker - and it doesn’t even allow all features to be used.
Fucking gay, really.
I personally believe that this would be an easy way to play Snes games and the like on the ds with minimal effort… all we need now is a good emulator that will run on it.
I bought this sometime ago and it’s not to bad. It’s frustrating given the fact that no homebrews with the dldi patch2 work on a 1 gig san disk card, but other than that, it works fine. Seeing how you can bypass the main launcher by using the Bootme.nds name, I don’t even use the firmware, but, sadly, it still can’t boot commercial games… yet
Thanks for your project. I like this site. KEEP IT UP..
This is a decent piece of tech, if you aren’t a pirate. If you are, go spend about thirty more bucks and get a better card. But if you are looking for a cheap mp3/video player and you own a ds, this is the way to go. There are homebrew sites everywhere!!!! Go to google and type in “homebrew Nintendo DS” and you will find tons. Also there are a lot of forums to help noobs which you can access with pretty much the same search string. cheap is the optimal word here… SONY SUCKS!!! If you’re a sony supporter, what are you doing on this site anyway?
btw, i upgraded my microSD card to a 2gb and i use the first dldi patch, as the second one isn’t as compatable with as many things. It works beautifully… I also use DSOrganize and Moonshell… If you don’t understand this, go to google and learn!!! it’s not hard.
Umm…I put videos onto my games n music, but it’s not working…It doesn’t show up as a bunch of ?’s, but when I click on it, it shows up as a red screen, with no volume…Now what do I do?
helloooooooooooo
i am a cookie muncher so don’t leave your cookies on the kitchen table or they *will* be gone! (runs away into Tylers kitchen) yum yum yum cookies! yay
wow omg that is the most stupidist thing ever
u know what i could just gt it for free at comp
I COULD GET IPOD VIDEOS AND OTHER THINGS IN THERE FOR FREE
get a freekin shity life fagbitch
Wonderful pages! Keep up the grat work.k
want good games for the games n music? go to nds-roms.com or search nds roms on google.

Here’s a step by step tutorial on how to install GnM.
1. Buy (duh)
2.go home and insert the micro sd card into a computer (you don’t really NEED to install the cd)
3.open the file and go to the root of the sd card
4.If you want .mp3 files, make a new file titled “MUSIC”
5. insert .mp3 files into the MUSIC folder
6. for Homebrew games go to “ndshb.com” (here you can find homebrew apps and games)
7. Download the selected files
8. Drag them to the GAMES section of the sd card
9. Download A DLDI patcher, (along with the
dldi file according to games and music)
10. install dldi patcher
11. use the dldi patcher with any apps and or games that don’t seem to be working.
12. …eh i dont know what else to say, if any more problems, just try Googleing it or Email me at Gamking1916883@yahoo.com or Demonicsonicx@hotmail.com
*edit*
For #2 i put “go home and insert the micro sd card into a computer” You have to insert the sd card into the adapter first, though its sorta self explainitory, yeah….just…yeah
