Music Monstars rocks onto Nintendo DS
Music Monstars, a new music/rhythm title developed by Spanish software house Novarama and being published by JoWood has, rather ironically, made its way almost silently onto the Internet over the last day or two. With gameplay in a similar vein to the likes of Jam Sessions and Elite Beat Agents, it’s looking pretty nifty.
Like Elite Beat Agents, song notes are played by tapping shrinking circles on the Nintendo DS’ touch screen, while the instrument you handle will change mid-song. In the above video of Europe’s ‘The Final Countdown’, for example, there’s a mix of guitar, drums, and organ to contend with. And it gets pretty hectic, too. THe ‘monstar’ part of the name is suggested by strange-looking creatures that bop around on the upper display.
Although earlier reports have hinted that Music Monstar’s creators only have plans to release the game in Europe at the moment, a message from the person (who we assume represents Novarama) on the YouTube page on which a trio of gameplay videos has been uploaded, states that the game will receive a worldwide release in September 2008.
