New Sky Crawlers details soar into view
Coming from the guys being the well respected Ace Combat series, the Nintendo Wii’s Sky Crawlers has a lot resting on its shoulders, both in terms of gameplay and being part of a group of developers who are finally beginning to prove that the console is capable of producing some splendid graphics. New details of the flight sim have emerged this week, courtesy of Famitsu.
Sky Crawlers’ subtitle is Innocent Aces, and it’s story follows the encounter between the protagonist, a member of a skilled flying unit belonging to a war contractor called Rostok Office, and an enigmatic young pretender, a lady called Orishina Maumi.
Players use the Nunchuck’s analog stick to direct Sky Crawlers’ airborne vehicles, while the Wii Remote controls the power of the throttle. Squad management is said to be a feature, while you’ll also be able to perform fancy-pants acrobatic stunts by using a system deemed the “Tactical Manoeuvres Command.” In addition, enemy threat will need to be contended to both in the air, and against static forces on the ground.
Namco Bandai’s latest Wii title is set to arrive in Japan this summer alongside a movie of the same name. Here’s hoping for a swift Western localisation.
