After battling with the authorities for months on end and finally being granted a license to arrive in Europe, Nintendo’s updated summer release list confirms that Rockstar’s controversial Manhunt 2 will arrive on the continent this August.

There is still ambiguity over much of Europe’s stance on the release of Manhunt 2, but today’s information is good news for the UK at least, where the game was eventually awarded an 18 certificate nearly a year after it wad first banned, and only when Rockstar Games had censored some of its most disturbing content.

Similar to the original, Manhunt 2 is renowned for its focus on performing gruesome killings, from strangling enemies with telephone wires to forcing their face into a box of live electrics.

Manhunt 2 was released in the US last October.

UPDATE

…Rockstar has stated that Nintendo’s latest release list is incorrect where it stands, and denied that Manhunt 2 will be released in August.

“We have no confirmed release date set for Manhunt 2 in Europe,” a Rockstar spokesperson told Eurogamer this afternoon.
