Upcoming games for the Japanese VC: Ocarina included
Nintendo of Japan apparently likes their customers more than Nintendo of America, and way more than Nintendo of Europe, does. They’ll put upcoming Virtual Console games on their website nearly a month in advance, and from that, sometimes we can see what’s in store for the rest of us.
First, and foremost, listed in the Nintendo 64 section is Ocarina time of legend of [zeruda], which is quite obviously The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, one of the most popular N64 games in existence. It’s coming out in February for 1,200 Wii Points (ah, Nintendo) so we should see it in either February or early March. (By comparison, A Link To The Past came out in Japan on December 2nd.)
For the rest, good old Wikipedia has already compiled the list. Following is the list of games coming out between now and February, with the title and cost in Wii Points.
NES
- Galaga (500) I’ve never been more happy that VC games are straight ports.
- Hoshi no Kirby (500) Kirby’s Adventure?
- Mighty Bomb Jack (500)
Super NES
- Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu (900 - popular games appear to cost more)
- Kamaitachi no Yoru (800) Not even Wikipedia knows what this.
- Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire (800)
- Shin Megami Tensei (900)
- Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts (800)
Nintendo 64
- Mario Kart 64 (1000) Interestingly, the Japanese are the last to get this one.
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1200)
Sega Genesis/Megadrive
- Bonanza Bros. (600)
- Bio-Hazard Battle (600) Listed as Crying.
- Comix Zone (600)
- Gain Ground (600)
- Streets of Rage (600)
- Beyond Oasis/The Story of Thor (600)
- Vectorman (600) One of the few reasons to buy the Sonic Gems Collection.
- Vermilion (600)
TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine
- Soldier Blade (600) You need this game.
- Be Ball (600)
- Vigilante (600)
- Yokai Dochu Ki (600)
- Wonder Momo (600)
We most likely won’t see most of these in NA or EU, especially the ones without linked Wikipedia entries. Unfortunately, Fire Emblem may also go without a worldwide release since originally it was released only in Japan, but we can hope. Ocarina of Time, however, is a sure bet, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Galaga, Vectorman, or Streets of Rage soon.

Anyone knows if and when we can be expecting a link to the past? (in Europe)
Greetings Glenn
