Mega Man 9 WiiWare - new details and first screenshots
Following its reveal in Nintendo Power last week, new information and proper non-scanned screenshots of Mega Man 9 for WiiWare have been released. For the low down on robot masters, secret modes, and chatter from series creator Keji Inafune, head inside.
Mega Man’s classic forumla returns in its eight sequel - find and defeat robot masters, then use the powers you acquire from each to defeat the next. We spied the names of each boss in Nintendo Power’s latest issue, but thanks to GamesRadar, we now know, generally, what each of their levels has in store for us:
Galaxy Man - A Portal-like level, where Mega Man is flung from point to point, using his momentum from each subsequent journey to propel himself further forward.
Plug Man - Contains the obligatory “disappearing block” puzzle.
Hornet Man - As the name suggests, there’s bees here - and lots of ‘em.
Jewel Man - Full of perilous swinging platforms to traverse.
Magma Man - Again, the clue’s in the name. Lots of lava and danger of instant death.
Concrete Man - Like Guts Man from previous games in the series.
Tornado Man - Said to be an incredibly difficult level set in mid-air, and complete with gut-wrenching leaps and spinning platforms.
Splash Woman - Yup, it’s a lady robot master designed by Inafune himself. Her level includes a bubble puzzle reminiscent of Mega Man 5.
GamesRadar also mentions that there are extra options on the menu screen sides the main game, but they won’t be revealed until E3.
In an interview with Inufane, the developer explains that Mega Man 9 will be much closer to Mega Man 2 than any of the other entries in the franchise, because that is what appears to be the fans’ favourite.
“The beauty of Mega Man actually lies in its simplicity and a fine mixture of simple gameplay, puzzle-like thrill of manoeuvring tricks at the last minute, and battles,” he said. “Instead of new moves, we’ve tried to find an excellent balance in the game design and to achieve “simplicity and fun” in the very detailed-oriented age.
We’ll bring you more on Mega Man 9 as we get it.

As long as the music can be compared to MegaMan 2’s, this juice is bangin’.
